due date

Our due date was yesterday, July 29. It came and went and still no Miller. I decided to get out of the house and try to get my mind off being pregnant, so I headed to Bartlesville to spend a little girl time with my sister, Mackenzie, and my mom. We all had manicures and pedicures and Mackenzie went to have her hair cut while I had my eyebrows waxed. Then, we all went to dinner with my dad. It was a lot of fun but not as effective at taking my mind off being pregnant as I would have liked. Everywhere we went people wanted to know when I was due. It was kind of funny to see their faces when I told them that today was my due date.

We have gotten lots of calls and messages from family and friends about Miller and are so thankful for all of your thoughts, love, and support. Unfortunately, we have no news to report. We will keep everyone posted on any exciting happenings!

our eleventh appointment

Both Miller and I are healthy and doing well. I am 39 weeks and 4 days pregnant. My blood pressure is good. I have been blessed with a healthy and uneventful pregnancy free of gestational diabetes, anemia, preeclampsia or other complications of pregnancy. Miller is still very active with plenty of amniotic fluid and a strong heartbeat. He just does not seem to be quite ready to come out so that his family can meet him! He is still not engaged in the pelvis and I have not had any contractions or cervical changes. Dr. Nilson will be on vacation next week, so we will have an appointment with one of his partners, Dr. Sterling, next Monday. If I still do not have any signs of labor at my next appointment, we will have to look at possibilities for induction as we pass my due date and chances for fetal morbidity increase. Although we are extremely excited to meet Miller, we feel incredibly blessed to have a healthy baby and look forward to his arrival whenever he is ready!

baby shower

Saturday, June 26
Thank you so much to my wonderful friends Stephanie and Melody for throwing me an amazing baby shower and to Melody's parents for hosting the shower at their house! I am overwhelmed by the love and support of all my family and friends and so grateful to everyone who was able to come celebrate with me!

The theme was "Goodnight Moon". So cute! They even passed around a copy of the book for everyone to sign. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of my own, but I have a few pictures from my mom's camera and Melody's camera.

We had delicious food including star-shaped sandwiches!

The punch was blue to represent the sky with lemon "moons" on every glass!

My mom made cute and tasty star-shaped sugar cookies as shower favors!

My dad made this amazing "Goodnight Moon" cake! He drew the tree in the background. It even lights up!!

We played the diaper game. Try to guess what candy bar is melted in each diaper. The winners got a bag of Stephanie's homemade marshmallows! They were delicious!

I had an AMAZING time! Thank you everyone!
Colby's friend, Dustin, threw him a diaper shower that took place at the same time as the baby shower. Some of the guys came to our house to grill and drink beer while the girls were away at the baby shower . Each guy that came brought us at least one package of diapers or wipes. Now we have tons of diapers and shouldn't have to buy diapers for awhile! Thanks Dustin! What a great idea!

our tenth appointment

Monday, July 19
Another appointment. Still no progress. Baby Miller is head down and seems to be a little lower, but no changes with my pelvic exam. I have been having some cramping and lower back pain for a little over one week now, but no real contractions. We discussed with Dr. Nilson the possibility of induction. He explained that I am not inducible until I have some cervical changes. He feels that 39 weeks and 2 days is the peak for fetal well-being. He usually doesn't like for his patients to go longer than 41-42 weeks because fetal morbidity increases (placenta stops working as well, amniotic fluid decreases, baby has a bowel movement in the uterus). Neither Colby nor I are thrilled about induction but we are both anxious and impatient to meet our little boy. I have been busy cleaning the house, organizing, and putting Colby to work finishing last minute projects (nesting as Colby would call it). So, I guess we will wait for another week and see if Miller is ready to make his appearance into our world! Our next appointment is Monday, July 26. I am 38 weeks and 4 days pregnant.

orchid shower

Wednesday, June 30
Today we had a baby shower at Colby's office. Colby and I feel so blessed that he has been able to find such a wonderful job that he really enjoys. His coworkers are kind, supportive and show a genuine interest in our lives. Carrie, Ashley, Cindy and Theresa were awesome hostesses. We had an amazing time!

Cindy made the cutest watermelon baby carriage! They catered Ted's (my favorite!) for lunch. It was delicious!

The memory game! Remember as many baby items on this table as you can! Colby and I got to keep all the items on this table as a baby gift from Orchid. We also played other fun games including "What's Your Song" where we tried to match songs with the word "baby" in them with the artist who sang them and "Famous TV parents" where we tried to match fictional TV parents with the appropriate TV show.

The gift table and Colby and I opening gifts. Everyone was so kind and generous!

Our adorable diaper cake! Thank you Ashley and Tena!

The cupcake cake had a stork on the clouds. So cute! And good too!
Thank you everyone for an amazing time!!

our ninth appointment

Thursday, July 8
Our appointment was originally scheduled for Tuesday, July 6. However, as we were waiting in the exam room to see Dr. Nilson, the nurse came in and told us that the doctor had to go to the hospital to deliver a baby. So, we were rescheduled for Thursday.

Dr. Nilson did an ultrasound today and estimates that Miller weighs 6 pounds 13 ounces. He has not descended into the pelvis, but he is still positioned head down. I have not felt any contractions yet, so it could be awhile before baby Miller makes his big appearance. Unfortunately, Dr. Nilson will be on vacation from the end of July to the beginning of August. Therefore, Colby and I might be forced to make a decision about whether I should be induced before my due date so that Dr. Nilson can deliver the baby. I also had my Group B strep test at this appointment. If I test positive for Group B strep, then I will have to have antibiotics during labor and stay in the hospital an extra day.

I have the nursery pretty much organized, but I am still working on doing a lot of Miller's laundry. I also decided to take everything out of the hall closet and reorganize it to make more room for Miller's bath supplies and toys. So, it looks like Miller is going to give me some more time to complete these projects!

I am 37 weeks and considered full-term. I have gained 36 pounds up to this point. My next appointment will be Monday, July 19. Hopefully, I will make some progress towards meeting Miller before our next appointment.
